In the December medical records the zoo's veterinarian acknowledges Emily (referred to as a conspecific) has attackied Ruth's injured tail in a discussion with the head elephant keeper on December 4, 2014.
Ruth's tail was surgically amputated on November 5, 2014 to remove dead and infected tissue and bone resulting from frostbite.
